For this year’s NYC Wine and Food Festival we at PRINT were invited to participate in the debut of their Drag Brunch. We were thrilled to be involved! Not only did we get to see an amazing performance, but we also got to help raise funds for the Food Bank For New York City. All proceeds from the entire festival – nearly one million dollars – are donated to their No Kid Hungry campaign.
It was indeed as advertised a lively drag brunch affair hosted by Debi Mazar. The brunch included bawdy performances by Pixie Aventura, Fifi Dubois, Silky Nutmeg Ganache and Jasmine Kennedie.
The goal of our dish was to match the lively performances with intense flavors. We decided to use the last of the harvest of sweet peppers and plum tomatoes. Our team made a shakshuka and topped it with a perfectly poached bite size quail egg. We knew we accomplished our goals when people came back for seconds. One attendee even took a video of the petite runny yolk! Check out our page on this month’s Greenmarket Featured Chefs series for the full recipe and more.
All in all the drag brunch was a fabulous event and at the end we even got to get into costume! ;0
