Inspirational Earth Week

We had a busy week of Earth Day-themed events, beginning with the Wellness in the Schools Gala on Monday, where we helped in fundraising nearly $100,000 for Bill Telepan’s healthy school lunch programming in 75 New York City Schools. Our dish was an instagram sensation and really captured the essence of spring in one flavor-laden bite: Ramp Blini, Raven & Boar Pork Rillette, Rhubarb Mustard Chutney, Radish, Broccoli Flowers.

On Tuesday we held the luncheon for the Morning Salon Sustainability Conference organized by Lisa Hendrickson, which brings together the trailblazing people driving sustainable change in business to learn, engage, and celebrate the community of practitioners moving us towards the sustainable economy. Our owner, Adam Block followed up with a keynote speech which summarized his sustainability strategies in consulting for major players in the restaurant industry and in particular at PRINT. and The Press Lounge.

Yesterday we volunteered at PS20, our partner WITS school, to kick-start their Green Earth Day Celebration in the cafeteria by handing out green juice to all 550 students. Most  of them could barley keep from jumping up and down for kale juice and couldn’t get enough of the nutrient rich elixir! A truly triumphant finish to an inspiring Earth Week .

Lastly, we received our first purple asparagus of the season from Ralston Farm. Couldn’t help to think there is some symbolism from Mother Earth herself, in radiant memory of the Purple Prince. RIP
